Vidhi submits her PhD thesis!

Also Stephen Hawking's Journey

As LV starts her American stint; she’s in MIT through to Easter, it’s amazing to think that she’s closed such a significant chapter of her life.

Official submission on 14.03 - Pi Day

The two dates that she submitted her PhD are both rather auspicious. The first is Pi Day, 03.14 (in the American rendering), and the second was a technical re-submission on the 15th of March, which is the Ides of March (which is the turning point in Roman History with the assassination of Julius Caesar).

I love the concept of twin adjoining dates, it stems from the Twin Holy Birthdays in the Baha’i Faith (two nights seen as one in the eye of God).

So I read a lot of meaning in that she’s submitted her Magnum Opus (hopefully she will make more, but this can be considered her MO to date) at such a time. It was completely incidental but she powered through and really has created a phenomenal piece of science, that almost verges into artistic greatness.

I’ve scanned her thesis for a few edits but the sheer brilliance of the work is outstanding. Her next two steps are viva, the “red door” and of course the graduation. It’s a major milestone in her (our?) life and I think her current stint in Boston is a good galvaniser toward the next milestone.

the Face of Science

Ps: I remember that Stephen Hawkings had passed away on Pi Day and as I was googling that I came across this rather funny excerpt:

He was born in Oxford and he passed away in Cambridge. There is a particular caste of individuals who swim about the dreaming spires of Oxbridge, sidestepping the material world almost entirely. It’s a surreal poingnant existence.
